RELEASE DATE

6 Mar. 2020

Since For Thy Kingdom didn't do so well in terms of downloads I decided to publish to Steam again.
P-BOT would be a skill based infinite platformer, the player would move forward and would have to evade and use various obstacles.
The main game mechanic would be a grappling hook which the player needed to use to cross big gaps.
If the player fell off a platform it would be game over.
The core gameplay was pretty fun even with only cubes, so I knew that the game had potential.
I made some 3d models and the game was starting to look pretty good.

The theme of the game would be a sci-fi neon city, there would be big skyscrapers and other buildings in the background and the player would be a robot.
After the game had more content like gravity switches, trampolines and walljumps I added a leaderboard so players could compete with each other.
This was a bit challenging at first but after some experimenting it worked.
Because I thought the current game mode was in a good state I started on a new game mode.

The reason for making a new game mode was because I wanted P-BOT an arcade game with multiple game modes so that there would be something in it for everyone.
The new game mode would be called "Fly Mode".
In this game mode the player would control an air plane and would fly through the city while having to evade various obstacles.
After making everything work I added post-processing so that the neon colours would have a bloom effect, this made it so that you actually got a neon vibe.
The only thing that was missing from the game was music, so I bought some synth music packs from the asset store and added them.

I then released the game on steam in early access because I wanted feedback from players of how to improve the game.
After releasing it I got some good feedback saying that I needed to add a death animation and sound effects.
When the player died I made the airplane fall apart and added a screenshake, particle effect and explosion sound effect.

After I published the changes I was thinking of the next game mode.
A friend gave the suggestion of robot that would need to climb a big skyscraper.
I made some prototypes using assets from the previous game modes and it looked good.

Currently the game has 3 game modes, delivery mode, fly mode and climb mode.
Each mode has it's own Steam Leaderboard.
The game will be in early access for about 1 more month because I still want to add more content.
Now that the game is released I am working on my next game and I will be updating P-BOT with new content if players ask for it.
